Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $330,000 - $492,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description


The Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and student body. Our Division of Cardiology seeks a Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. This is a unique opportunity to lead and further enhance a nationally recognized program dedicated to advancing interventional care for pediatric and congenital heart disease, with a focus on innovation, quality, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Ranked among the ten Best Children's Hospitals in the nation by US News & World Report, Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is a 511-bed non-profit pediatric teaching facility that provides exceptional medical and surgical care to a broad population of one million children and adolescents. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology consists of 33 faculty members with depth in the full range of cardiac subspecialties. The Division and the Heart Institute have excelled in every aspect of its clinical, research, and teaching missions.

The Dickinson Image-Guided Intervention Center is a state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory with MR-guided catheterization capabilities. Supporting infrastructure includes a dedicated cardiothoracic ICU, advanced cardiac imaging, including a 3-D Innovation Lab, interventional radiology, a dedicated cardiac anesthesia team, research personnel, IT support, and engaged administrative leadership.

As Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the selected candidate will provide clinical and operational leadership for all catheterization laboratory services, including diagnostic and interventional procedures for pediatric and congenital heart disease. The role involves close collaboration with cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac anesthesia, critical care, and other pediatric subspecialties to support high-quality, coordinated patient care. Additional responsibilities include leading program development and growth initiatives, advancing quality and safety efforts, mentoring and teaching faculty and trainees, leading educational and research activities, and contributing to research and academic activities.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree.

Candidates must be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.

Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a leadership role within a cardiac catheterization laboratory or similar clinical setting.

Candidates must have, or be eligible for, a California medical license or an equivalent certification or permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
